MORE ABOUT ME I am a caregiver for a patient who is suffering from Schizophrenia. He is my close and lovely family member whom we were growing together in the family. When he was diagnosed, I was shocked and could not accept that such a normal person can suffer with a mental illness without any alarms. Due to the curiosity, I started to become more aware of the importance of mental health and decided to take the counselling course.
I am actively participating in volunteer programme such as donation drives, children and teenagers camps, mental health exhibitions and public talks. I worked in a private university and non-profit organisation (NGO) in the past, providing counselling services to children, adolescents and young adults.
As my favourite quote by Daisaku Ikeda says, “Happiness is not the absence of difficulties. It belongs to those who retain invincible courage and unshakable hope in the face of any challenge or adversity”. Thus, no matter how we suffer, courage and hope are the main keys to persist. For personal approach, I like to use Art Therapy and Oh Cards Therapy to encourage free association and interpretations in counseling sessions.
