Prof Dr Louis Downs

After more than 17 years as a counselor and clinical administrator, Louis Downs, Ph.D. is presently an Associate Professor of counseling at California State University Sacramento. His clinical areas of specialization included survivors of trauma, dissociative disorders, personality disordered clients, anxiety and panic, and co-occurring disorders.
In the summer of 2007, Dr. Downs traveled, first to Shanghai China where he presented a workshop for the Shanghai Counseling Association in anxiety disorder counseling as well as in post approaches to post traumatic stress disorders, and then on a Fulbright Fellowship to Malaysia to consult with the Department of Guidance and Counseling Psychology of New Era College on counseling skills acquisition enhancement, to design and implement a disaster relief plan, and to provide continuing education for counselors in the federal district of Selangor.
He has been appointed to a two year position as academic consultant to the New Era College Department of Guidance and Counseling Psychology and is presently serving as the clinical consultant to the Qing-jian Counseling Center in Shanghai, China. He has recently been invited to present a workshop on crisis intervention techniques and clinical approaches to post traumatic stress disorder at the University Science Malaysia in Penang, Malaysia.
